Washington resident Peter Aspesi died on March 7 at George Washington Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was 49.
Aspesi was born July 28, 1958, in Worchester Mass., and moved to D.C. in 1976 to attend George Washington University. He worked at the university until 1992, and was employed at the Crew Club and Club Washington from ’92 until 2006. After the closing of the O Street clubs, including Club Washington, Aspesi began working at Green Lantern as a bartender and daytime receiving manager.
“He was kind of a quiet, unassuming kind of guy, but would give you the shirt off his back,” says Greg Zehnacker, Green Lantern owner. “He was a very good friend.”
A celebration of Aspesi’s life will be held at Green Lantern on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. The club is located at 1335 Green Ct., N.W. Call 202-347-4533 for more information.
