When twinks grow up, get real jobs and stop shaving off all their body hair, they probably end up heading out to Blowoff, the monthly dance party headed by Richard Morel and musician BOB MOULD. Saturday, Jan. 26, marks the five-year anniversary of the Washington dance party (Morel and Mould started a version in New York in 2007). Born in Malone, N.Y., a rock’s throw away from the Canadian border, Mould attended Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., and went on to become a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter for ’80s punk band Husker Du. The band dissolved at the end of the ’80s, but Mould continued recording music solo as well as forming the group Sugar in the ’90s before taking on a brief stint as a scriptwriter for World Championship Wrestling. He left the WCW over creative differences and returned to his fulltime music career, performing, recording and working as a DJ. Mould is currently dating and lives in D.C.
Professionally out in 1994. Telling parents was awkward.
William S. Burroughs.
Blowoff, but I am biased.
I would consider it.
The future of my neighborhood.
September 11, 2001.
The Beatles breaking up.
“The Ultimate Fighter.”
Gym shorts.
“To Be Continued.”
Recommend it to all my straight crushes.
A spiritual world that is hard to define, but undeniable.
Filet mignon.
First class on transcontinental flights.
Men who call other men “girl.”
“Beautiful Thing.”
Can’t think of one.
My health, followed by my home.
Play safe.
I may never have an answer for that, but it is home for the moment.
